In 2018, the EPA estimated shipping packaging accounted for 82.2 MILLION TONS of waste.
When I first started living a Zero Waste lifestyle, finding all of the products that I needed required a lot of time, a lot of internet trolling, and frankly, it just wasn’t convenient. I started Package Free because I wanted to make sustainable, Zero Waste swaps for everyday items convenient and accessible for everyone, no matter where they lived. That meant that it was important to me to offer shipping options, so that anyone, no matter where they lived, could access sustainable products.
BUT traditional shipping (think: packing peanuts, bubble wrap, boxes, and plastic tape) wasn’t going to cut it. So we did things differently.
What makes our shipping different?
At Package Free, we have a strict Package Free Shipping policy, which means that we are proud to operate completely plastic free. We ship everything 100% plastic free in upcycled or 100% post-consumer boxes, with paper wrapping and paper tape. This means that all of our shipping materials are 100% recyclable and 100% compostable. We also work with all of our vendors to ensure that inbound shipments are also 100% plastic free.
We’re also Carbon Neutral and offset our emissions from shipping and operations through projects with our partner Pachama—who restores vital ecosystems and employs thousands in communities around the world.
