I have terrible vision. When a doctor first told my mom that I had bad vision there was a brief second of excitement, glasses! But then reality struck. It was so cool to see like 70 percent of what was in front of me, but then there was this large range outside of the glasses that I couldn’t see and it was weird and terrifying and so I graduated to contact lenses. I have been wearing them for over 12 years now and can’t see myself going back to glasses (no pun intended) and the thought of getting laser eye surgery isn’t even a thought for me. contact lenses contact lenses contact lenses
So how do I live a Zero Waste lifestyle and still wear contacts? Check out this video below!

Ah I've been so curious! Thank you! Is the foil covering over the contact lense plastic container recyclable?
I've been curious about this, too! 🙂 I feel less guilty now, learning that you wear contacts, too 😉 I really have to search for recycling options, though. The past years, I could wear my same contacts for 1 year, and my current pair is lasting already a year and 8 months, so for me, it's more the contact solution that produces the waste…
Hey Lauren, you should look into Ortho-K contact lenses. They're not completely zero waste, but you have one pair for about 2 years. Nice video!
It was for this reason I actually switched back to glasses. Each time I'm up for a new pair, I donate my frames and lenses. My optomologist also gives us the option to have our prescriptions sent as a PDF read-only file to eliminate any papers from having to be scanned, sorted, and stored at home. Great perspective. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Lauren, What is your opinion on Lasik or some other Laser eye surgery as a zero waste vision alternative? Thanks!
There is a way to recycle contact lenses and its packaging.
